Website Risks

It has become almost commonplace to hear news about some large company’s website being hacked. And while it is true large companies draw the interest of many hackers small businesses are not immune. A security firm called Sitelock recently reported that small businesses are attacked on average 44 times a day. Now that doesn’t necessarily mean that your website has been taken over or had some dangerous program planted into its code, but it does mean your website is constantly at risk. So what can you do about it? Well at this point we can’t stop hackers from trying to break into your website, but there are steps to stop them from succeeding. One of the most important steps is having proper backups. That way if something does happen to your website you can simply reload it with your backup and continue on. Of course it is very important to have proper security software in place to fend off these attacks so you have less need of the backups but they are still important. Also if you are using a website host like Wordpress it’s important to keep both Wordpress and all your plugins regularly updated.
